I have a lot of posting to catch up on! Lollapalooza gave way to a week at the beach with my family, which was followed by a solo jaunt out to Los Angeles for SIGGRAPH 2008. After that an old friend came to visit, which was wonderful for me but less so for my update schedule.

In any event I have now returned, normal life has resumed, and will pick up where I left off: I drew this (one of Trent Reznor’s accompanying musicians for the Sunday Nine Inch Nails performance at Lollapalooza) from a promotional poster while we waited for the Gnarls Barkley show earlier that afternoon. I’m fairly pleased with the line… I’ve been starting a lot of portraits with blind contour lately, it’s been a really productive way to get away from what I think I know about drawing faces.
